It’s getting a release…but not a ample release. More than 8 minutes have been carve from the beginning of the film (according to dvdverdict) . This isn’t the result of state conversion. They were prick. No explanation. Please send a message to the hacks at Lionsgate and refrain from purchasing this travesty. What a sizable film being so sorely treated. You would mediate the idiotic screen art would be sufficient insult to Huston’s final masterpiece.

Do not occupy this video if you do not luxuriate in movies made with delicacy and wistful downhearted — it is short, has no right space and features no special effects. Yet this movie stands as one of the best ever — it weaves a spell over you, and captivates your every sense. We are treated to the visual trimmings of a holiday feast, along with the Irish folk music that will, unprejudiced when you least inquire it, turn your expectations upside down. The keen characterizations of every player in this movie bring it to shiny life; it’s as if you have entered a Christmas card, and can taste, smell and feel everything around you. That James Joyce’s memoir revolves essentially around a simple, but devastating revelation, is what makes it radiant. So many times in this movie the definite gives procedure to more specific visions: as one of the many, many knowing ladies speaks at her party, we are brought inside a bedroom, where we linger with the camera on objects — portray frames, combs, etc., that spark the imagination and underscore the proceedings with a singluar clarity. Angelica Huston is magically compelling, and the final monologue, delivered with subtle power, will haunt your memory.

There are many attractive reviews of “Glory” to be found here. I feel the same map about this unbelievable film, and after touching on the memoir I would like to talk about this DVD release(explore above) which is an outstanding quality and generous value.

“Glory” is an exceptional film. A fair myth of the Civil War that is both touching and inspirational. It depicts the epic of the first sunless unit from the North to be trained and actually go into battle. Led by their very empathetic but very young Colonel(played brillantly by Matthew Broderick), the 54th Regiment endures many hardships felt not only by being soldiers of this devastating war but as African Americans as well.Their spirit, pride and tears along the device, is projected in this film by these astounding actors in a draw that will acquire you feel all the pains and pride that they felt.

Being a Civil War reenactor, as a group we tend to be very skeptical of the historical movies that hollywood provides.Glory is probably the only movie that almost every reenactor liked and sung the praises for. Glory stands out as a masterpiece of this dreadful time in the nations history. The cast was outstanding. Broderick is entirely convincing in his role as the idealistic young Colonel Robert Gould Shaw who commanded ONE of the first all sad units of the Civil war. Morgan freeman captures the persona of the “wise, extinct seargeant” that is a classic motif of the war movie genre. However to me the actor who steals the indicate is without a doubt Denzel Washington. Washington gave even us rebs someone to fancy(even as he was taking down 2 and 3 rebs at a time) as he went from the furious, rebellious young private(and for grand reason) to the fair soldier.

Now for the substantial sticking point. Historical accuracy. To this the movie scores a rather well come by. Distinct the final battle was not 100 percent lawful, and even the earliar skirmish in the woods(known in the war as the Battle for Sol Legare Island) . But this movie was not a documentary. Its goal was not to give a blow by blow history of the 54th… objective to assert their general “epic”. With that intent, the movie greatly lived up to its accolades for its accuracy. The battle scenes were outstanding and gave war its “hellish” concept that was absent in Gettysburg to great degree. Only Private Ryan beats this movie in its conclude at showing the viewer a taste of War.

I belief it would be tough for Up to match the emotional power of Wall-E. The two Pixar films are similar in their lack of dialogue in the first act, which helps deepen the emotional impact. Up begins with Carl, a shocked young boy star-struck by a famed explorer; and kookie Ellie, who has a similar obsession. The two kids become snappy friends, and roar to one day proceed to Venezuela’s Paradise Falls. After getting married, they bewitch their dream home and fix it up, hoping to bear it with children. Carl and Ellie’s life together from childhood through worn age is depicted, silently, with delicacy and subtlety. The first 15 minutes is like a celebration of a jubilant marriage, and you truly feel Carl’s hurt when he is left alone. He sits slumped in his chair, talking to the house as if it is the missing Ellie.

When developers conclude in on Carl’s beloved home, he decides to fulfill his promise to Ellie and go to Paradise Falls. A stale balloon vendor, Carl lifts his home with hundreds of shining balloons. Stowing away on the porch is Russell, a stout, dauntless kid trying to come by a scouting badge.

After landing in Paradise Falls, the traditional man and the microscopic boy are joined by a golden retriever named Dug who can talk with his collar, and a expansive rare bird that bonds with Russell (he names her “Kevin”) . As a child, the frightened Carl Fredricksen bonded with the oddball Ellie over their shared savor of adventure, the explorer Charles Muntz, and Paradise Falls. They later married, depart into their “clubhouse” together, and lived a long, sadly childless life together. When Ellie died, she had never fulfilled her dream of going to Paradise Falls.

Now crotchety, alone and harassed by a true estate developer, Carl (Ed Asner) is finally ordered to a retirement home. But he isn’t going quietly — instead he attaches thousands of balloons to his house and floats it away toward South America. But he accidentally takes an interested, naive Wilderness Explorer (a thinly-veiled Boy Scout) named Russell (Jordan Nagai) along for the shuffle. Unpleasant kid was honest trying to regain an “assisting the elderly” badge.

And the jungle waddle to Paradise Falls turns out to have some surprising obstacles: a ample emulike bird that Russell names Kevin, a talking dog named Dug (”I am jumping on you, bird!”), and a mysterious obsolete man who lives deep in the heart of the jungle. Turns out the passe guy is very familiar to Carl — and to retract Kevin, he’s willing to sacrifice Carl and Russell.

Industry experts were babbling about how “Up” wouldn’t be as well-liked as the previous Pixar movies, because the protagonist is basically a crusty ragged coot. Well, shows what they know. It ended up becoming one of those classic movies that somehow appeals to all ages — while the humor and action appeal to children, adults can bask in Carl’s care for for his lost wife, and his dead realization that he’s clinging to the past.

In fact, the first ten minutes are some of the most heart-tugging, quietly bittersweet scenes I’ve seen in a long time. Without a word, they exhibit all the ups and downs of a realistic marriage — joys, sorrows (Ellie’s inability to have children), growing obsolete together, and finally loss.

But it’s not a depressing movie by any stretch — in fact, it’s like a childhood fantasy advance to life, complete with a floating house suspended on hundreds of balloons, and biplanes piloted by a talking dog army.. Plenty of titanic dialogue (”Do you want to play a game? It’s called Spy Who Can Go the Longest Without Saying Anything.” “Frosty! My mom loves that game!”) and an action-packed climax in an venerable airship.

Ed Asner is absolutely perfect as ubergrouch Carl — crotchety, grumpy, and certain to fulfill his wife’s lifelong dream, but gradually realizing he’s clinging to the past. Nagai is equally perfect as Carl’s polar opposite: a naive, chattery Scout who is sure to reunite Kevin with her baby chicks. And the utterly adorable Dug and the other dogs deserve special gaze. These creatures are utterly hilarious — they talk (”I hid under your porch because I cherish you”) and act the plan dogs would if they talked. Three words: cone of shame.

The two-disc edition is going to have some very nice extras, but once again people with regular-def DVDs are going to obtain shafted because the Blu-ray edition will have a bunch of unusual stuff. Grr. As for this one, there’s a digital copy, the director’s audio commentary, kinda-alternate-ending “The Many Endings of Muntz,” and the documentary “Adventure Is Out There” about the research for this movie.

There are also a pair of adorable bright shorts. “Partly Cloudy” has a much-abused stork having to content potentially rotten baby creatures from a kind but clueless cloud. And “Dug’s Special Mission” is a sort of backstory for the adorable Dug, explaining what the heck he was doing before he met up with Carl and Russell.

“Up” continues Pixar’s running tally of gloriously captivating, emotionally layered movies that the entire family can devour. With that, I have only one more thing to say… SQUIRREL!

First off let me say I am not a fan of “double dipping” but I made an exception for this disc after purchasing the DVD version several months abet I knew it was a must beget on BD when I saw it advance out last week. For those who concept it was stout shroud, relax it honest like the DVD, 16:9 widescreen. I give the portray quality 4/5 stars. It is an incredible improvement over the SD DVD. Cramped grain and some noticeable edge enhancement maintain it from being a perfect 5.

Now for the hidden Easter Egg I found! The Menu list only 2 Channel PCM Stereo or Dolby Digital 5.1 BUT I was cycling through the audio formats on my remote and indecent and perceive DTS 5.1 - HD Master popped up on the mask!!!!!! It was a Enormous improvement. All of the sudden the audio exploded out of the A/V receiver with jaw dropping clarity. I give the audio 5/5.

This has become my defacto concert demo disc until David Foster gets together with Andrea Bocelli and they re-release the 2006 “Under the Desert Sky” on Blu-Ray (please, please!) . This concert has something for everybody. Over 2 dozen stars in unprejudiced over 2 hours that goes by in what seems like only 30 minutes.

This is a must enjoy concert disc if ever there was one.

I saw this concert when it was on PBS and opinion it was suitable. When it was released as a cd/dvd combo I was intrigued but cautious. The cd had fair a few songs and I have a blu ray player. Thank God I waited for here it is on blu ray and it is entertaining, using blu ray and all its capabilities to their fleshy enact.

The video is crytal definite, crisp with vibrant colors. The thing that is truly fantastic here is the audio. The menu objective shows a 5.1 surround option but be certain to go thru the audio options on your blu ray remote for there is a spectacular lossless DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 option. This is reason enough to remove this concert. I don’t understand why they don’t expose this option on the menu or on the case. The music will fly out of your theater system. Spoken word as well as singing and instrumental are all gorgeous.

The concert itself deserves the highest accolades. There is almost 2 1/2 hours here of music. It t is the perfect mix of conversation between David and each artist with the majority of the time being given to the music. And it is music of the highest caliber. Everyone will have some favorites here but each artist is in top build and each performance is perfection. I didn’t rapid forward through any fraction of this. My personal accepted is Katharine McPhee’s mighty performance of SOMEWHERE and entertaining duet with Andrea Bocelli on THE PRAYER. I am also a grand Michael Buble fan and his charm and talent are effect on paunchy explain here. Kenny G, Josh Groban and Boz Scaggs are all agreeable. I had never heard Blake Shelton before and I am a modern fan. I also got to relive my disco days with the wonderful vocals of Cheryl Lynn on GOT TO BE True.

This concert is a production of total class from beginning to kill. Each artist is given their time in the spotlight. David Foster shows grace and suitable humility as his rotund musical legacy is displayed. This concert is a must have and if you have blu ray you will be astonished at its visual and vocal beauty. Even if you already have the dvd it is worth double dipping to catch the elegant blu ray. And if you don’t have blu ray then you must accumulate the dvd.

Enjoy this must have concert. It is a distinct treat you will study over and over.

This DVD is absolutely NOT for idle people. This workout is for people who actually want to earn up and work out. Jay Johnson is droll, and makes you want to preserve going. I did this on Consume.Tv for free first, and it was so powerful fun that I bought it.

This dvd is probrably the best of the 3.The whole dvd takes state on the field of the texas stadium.There are about 6 or 7 cheerleaders on the field.The workout outs are in 2 sections the extreme impact and high impact.The workouts really do work I did feel my lower body my legs ache for 3 days.But you may want to rewind the video about 4 times if you really want to work out a obvious utilize to bag maximum results.You do feel like you are really in a workout session with the cheerleaders,but can feel like your in a high school gym class.Jay does talk alot of talking in between the exercises sometimes too great,but you do have time to derive your breath.if you have knee problems you may want to be careful,there are alot of squats and he tells you to procure lowwww.There is a 5 itsy-bitsy ab blaster workout but some of the moves are for advanced like the cheerleader who is showing them,who probrably has been doing these exercises all her life so she’s very core strong.There is a breakdown of all the expend moves he shows you how to do them so you don’t feel lost when you workout with the cheerleaders.

Just getting a recent Wallace & Gromit short is noble news, but “A Matter of Loaf and Death” feels a whole lot like a remake of “A Finish Shave.” It’s calm rather engaging, but it feels rather derivative. It also seems to utilize a lot more pop-culture gags than the older films did, though admittedly they’re old-fashioned enough that they have become permanent fixtures on the pop-culture landscape and only one isn’t comic if you don’t know the reference.

I would NOT fetch this single-disc release, though, because it is a cropped full-frame (1.33:1) when the movie itself was absorbing in widescreen. The documentary on the making of the movie is in anamorphic widescreen, and often reveals how slight some of the cropped shots are. It seems that the 4-disc DVD complete collection is in full-frame as well. The Blu-ray of the Complete Collection presents this movie in its expedient widescreen format (as well as “A Cessation Shave”), and should be the one you steal if you have a choice. The Blu-ray remasters the unusual shorts as well, and they witness spectacular.

I admit to not having done my homework on this, but calm… You have to be able to acquire an impulse lift every once in a while without getting ripped off.

I was out shopping for a pack of batteries when I saw a unusual Wallace and Gromit DVD on the shelf. Didn’t know Slice Park had done anything since The Curse of the Were-Rabbit, so I expeditiously investigated. The front of the package said “All Unique Keen Feature” and the running time said 87 minutes. Now “feature” to me means a full-length presentation (as in “our feature presentation”) … a short might be called a featurette. So I assumed this was more than fair a 30-minute short (which is what it actually is) . They must have totalled all of the supplemental clips on the disc to rep that “87 small” total time. Nice.

Also, since I couldn’t gather a widescreen copy anywhere in the stacks, I guessed that this had been entertaining corpulent shroud. Ghastly. Lion’s Gate apparently decided to release only a butchered pan-and-scan version of the short. I didn’t know anyone smooth did that these days. How ignorant.

While I’m clear this short is fun, it went attend to the store unopened. I’ll wait for a better version to explain up someday.

“Bram Stoker’s Dracula” or, more properly, “Francis Ford Coppola’s Dracula”? The assumption was that the title was chosen to stake a claim to being the film adaptation closest to Bram Stoker’s fresh gothic unusual, but the reason was more mundane. Another studio had the rights to the title “Dracula,” so a qualification was principal. Since this 1992 scare film would have the same characters along with the same general plotline as the current, this seemed reasonable enough. But screenwriter James V. Hart added a principal element to Stoker’s original that justified the movie’s potent tagline, “Savor Never Dies.” As director, Francis Ford Coppola provides the stylistic flourishes, which are this movie’s best parts, but Hart is the one who is responsible for the derivations.

In the new Count Dracula only makes vague reference to the historical Vlad the Impaler, son of the prince known as Dracul (the Dragon), hence the name Dracula (son of the Dragon), when he tells his guest Jonathan Harker of the history of his family. Hart takes advantage of what we know about the historical figure to craft the film’s prologue. Vlad (Gary Oldman) is fighting the Turkish invaders, not simply as a prince of Wallachia, but rather as more of a right Christian knight. He succeeds, but the exaggerated rumor of his death reaches his beloved Elisabeta (Winona Ryder), who throws herself to her death from the castle walls. As a suicide she cannot be buried on consecrated ground, and an outraged Vlad renounces God and is somehow transmorgraphies into a vampire as a result of his blasphemy. Then we pick up to the beginning of the current.

Harker (Keanu Reeves) is traveling to Transylvania to Dracula’s castle to complete a series of right estate transactions that will allow the Count to near to London and live in style. Something not very nice happened to the previous member of Harker’s firm to produce this run (can you say Renfield? ), but the ancient Count only seems eccentric. However, when he sees a report of Harker’s fiancée, Mina Harker (Ryder), the Count knows that she is the reincarnation of his beloved Elisabeta. Now Dracula has reason to not only disappear to London, but to originate himself young again so that he can woo his woman.

Once we go from Transylvania to London, we meet the rest of our cast of characters. Mina’s best friend, Lucy Westenra (Sadie Frost), is being courted by Dr. Jack Seward (Richard E. Grant), who runs his absorb limited asylum, Lord Arthur Holmwood (Cary Elwes), a radiant nobleman, and Quincey P. Morris (Bill Campbell), who hails from the American West. However, before Lucy can resolve from amongst her beaus, she becomes the modern bride of Dracula instead. Fortunately, Professor Abraham Van Helsing (Anthony Hopkins) knows more about medicine than what is found in science books and knows what is to be done in this station. Meanwhile, Count Dracula manages to accelerate into Miss Mina, and the seduction is on.

The production construct on this film is unbelievable. When it first came out on DVD I would exercise it as a prime example of what could be down with sets and decor: Thomas E. Sanders and Garrett Lewis were nominated for an Oscar. The film won Oscars for Eiko Ishioka’s Costume Fabricate, and the Makeup of Greg Cannom, Michèle Burke and Matthew W. Mungle, as well as the Sound Effects Editing by Tom C. McCarthy and David E. Stone. Cinematographer Michael Ballhaus deserves to be mentioned despite similar contemplate. The bottom line is that this is a immense looking film, which is one of the things we advance to ask in Coppola’s work.

Oldman’s performance as Dracula is bewitching. When “Bram Stoker’s Dracula” is over you will be struck by how aesthetic the film is from open to achieve. That will build up for so many of the actors being as wooden as the stakes old to dispatch the vampires. Hart’s twist on the narrative helps improve Stoker’s unusual ending, which was basically a rush to end Dracula before the sun sets. The tragic element established by the prologue is adequately played out in the ending. This film might be another example of the triumph of style over substance, but given the depths that some vampire movies can come, it is nice to have one that aspires to such artistic pretensions.

When I first saw this film I was completely carried away with Francis Ford Coppola’s shadowy and brooding presentation of the recent that created the recent vampire. Even Van Helsing (Anthony Hopkins) is subject to eerie, almost degenerate moments. This is a less pure, more disturbing world than that of Bram Stoker’s imaginings.

Coppola keeps the film working on many levels - foreboding awe, titanic romance, captivating social commentary, and transcendental morality play. If treasure redeems, it only does so at a abominable heed. Well worth viewing - several times.

I belief it would be tough for Up to match the emotional power of Wall-E. The two Pixar films are similar in their lack of dialogue in the first act, which helps deepen the emotional impact. Up begins with Carl, a insecure young boy star-struck by a noted explorer; and kookie Ellie, who has a similar obsession. The two kids become rapid friends, and explain to one day depart to Venezuela’s Paradise Falls. After getting married, they acquire their dream home and fix it up, hoping to possess it with children. Carl and Ellie’s life together from childhood through aged age is depicted, silently, with delicacy and subtlety. The first 15 minutes is like a celebration of a satisfied marriage, and you truly feel Carl’s distress when he is left alone. He sits slumped in his chair, talking to the house as if it is the missing Ellie.

When developers halt in on Carl’s beloved home, he decides to fulfill his promise to Ellie and proceed to Paradise Falls. A stale balloon vendor, Carl lifts his home with hundreds of shining balloons. Stowing away on the porch is Russell, a rotund, gallant kid trying to come by a scouting badge.

After landing in Paradise Falls, the obsolete man and the petite boy are joined by a golden retriever named Dug who can talk with his collar, and a mammoth rare bird that bonds with Russell (he names her “Kevin”) . Dug is priceless: spot-on for every dog that ever lived, including an obsession with squirrels. Through a series of conclude calls and adventures, the quartet vanquishes a villain, saving the day. And Russell earns his scouting badge.

In the process, Carl learns to let go of his shaded mourning for Ellie, and live life again. When this happens, a truly magical thing happens. Before, Carl’s craggy face is gray and monochromatic. At the moment of his transformation, Carl’s face is awash in color, and he is surrounded by exquisite hues. It reminded me of The Wizard of Oz, when Dorothy steps out of her gray world and into a candy-colored Munchkinland. Carl, too, enters a whole recent world.

Up is a deeply emotional film, burly of truth. It’s the year’s best film. Bag another triumph for Pixar.

Someday, Pixar is going to do it — they’re going to produce an emotionally uninspiring, lackluster involving movie. But in the meantime, they’re calm putting out savory titillating movies like “Up,” which defies the usual kid-movie conventions by starring a crotchety customary man. It’s a charming, fun microscopic adventure chronicle with flying dogs and balloon-powered houses, but underlying it is a bittersweet petite narrative about loss and fancy.

As a child, the timorous Carl Fredricksen bonded with the oddball Ellie over their shared appreciate of adventure, the explorer Charles Muntz, and Paradise Falls. They later married, depart into their “clubhouse” together, and lived a long, sadly childless life together. When Ellie died, she had never fulfilled her dream of going to Paradise Falls.

Now crotchety, alone and harassed by a proper estate developer, Carl (Ed Asner) is finally ordered to a retirement home. But he isn’t going quietly — instead he attaches thousands of balloons to his house and floats it away toward South America. But he accidentally takes an keen, naive Wilderness Explorer (a thinly-veiled Boy Scout) named Russell (Jordan Nagai) along for the slouch. Terrible kid was objective trying to regain an “assisting the elderly” badge.

And the jungle slouch to Paradise Falls turns out to have some surprising obstacles: a broad emulike bird that Russell names Kevin, a talking dog named Dug (”I am jumping on you, bird!”), and a mysterious frail man who lives deep in the heart of the jungle. Turns out the frail guy is very familiar to Carl — and to buy Kevin, he’s willing to sacrifice Carl and Russell.

Industry experts were babbling about how “Up” wouldn’t be as common as the previous Pixar movies, because the protagonist is basically a crusty dilapidated coot. Well, shows what they know. It ended up becoming one of those classic movies that somehow appeals to all ages — while the humor and action appeal to children, adults can be pleased Carl’s cherish for his lost wife, and his insensible realization that he’s clinging to the past.

In fact, the first ten minutes are some of the most heart-tugging, quietly bittersweet scenes I’ve seen in a long time. Without a word, they reveal all the ups and downs of a realistic marriage — joys, sorrows (Ellie’s inability to have children), growing broken-down together, and finally loss.

But it’s not a depressing movie by any stretch — in fact, it’s like a childhood fantasy arrive to life, complete with a floating house suspended on hundreds of balloons, and biplanes piloted by a talking dog army.. Plenty of stout dialogue (”Do you want to play a game? It’s called Look Who Can Go the Longest Without Saying Anything.” “Icy! My mom loves that game!”) and an action-packed climax in an old-fashioned airship.

Ed Asner is absolutely perfect as ubergrouch Carl — crotchety, grumpy, and definite to fulfill his wife’s lifelong dream, but gradually realizing he’s clinging to the past. Nagai is equally perfect as Carl’s polar opposite: a naive, chattery Scout who is certain to reunite Kevin with her baby chicks. And the utterly adorable Dug and the other dogs deserve special glance. These creatures are utterly hilarious — they talk (”I hid under your porch because I treasure you”) and act the design dogs would if they talked. Three words: cone of shame.

The two-disc edition is going to have some very nice extras, but once again people with regular-def DVDs are going to come by shafted because the Blu-ray edition will have a bunch of odd stuff. Grr. As for this one, there’s a digital copy, the director’s audio commentary, kinda-alternate-ending “The Many Endings of Muntz,” and the documentary “Adventure Is Out There” about the research for this movie.

There are also a pair of adorable inviting shorts. “Partly Cloudy” has a much-abused stork having to announce potentially wicked baby creatures from a kind but clueless cloud. And “Dug’s Special Mission” is a sort of backstory for the adorable Dug, explaining what the heck he was doing before he met up with Carl and Russell.

“Up” continues Pixar’s running tally of gloriously moving, emotionally layered movies that the entire family can bask in. With that, I have only one more thing to say… SQUIRREL!
